This week's topic is "Safe." Great timing. I've been struggling with this concept for the past couple of days. Here's a recent entry from my journal.

I am Steph and I am an artist. I live in my head most of the time. I think in pictures. Sometimes words just get in the way. I love peanut butter. I get bored easily. When I was 12 my best friend and I created the FFF (Federation of Fellow Froggists). We made an alternate universe populated by frogs. I still have the maps and my membership card. I wanted to be an astrophysicist until I discovered that it involved a lot of math. I decided to stick to reading science fiction. I cultivate moods. I forget to drink my vitamins sometimes. I have vivid dreams. I have recurring ones about vampires. My high school friends and I tried to form a band called “Shelob’s Lair.” I quit my guitar lessons after a week of having callused fingers. I liked our logo though. I almost didn’t graduate from college because of Spanish so I swore that I would never go to Spain. I lived there for 5 years. I love chai tea. I drink too much coffee sometimes. I believe in magic. I really want to have a cat.

I like journal entries, too... and think that those who CAN feel safe when they are alone with themselves have a lot to be grateful for. There have been times when alone was NOT safe. Not safe at all.
It's never too late to do the math. Astrophysics is, um, cosmological.
